Terra Selects Juniper Networks Junos(R) Pulse to Provide Employees With Secure Mobile Access to Corporate Resources and Data

Will Improve Employee Remote Efficiency and Productivity Without Jeopardizing Security

SUNNYVALE, CA, Jan 12, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --

Juniper Networks (NYSE: JNPR) today announced that Terra, a leading Brazilian online media provider, has deployed Juniper Networks(R) Junos Pulse network client to enable secure access for employees who need secure, remote access to corporate systems and sensitive data from smartphones, iPads, and other mobile devices.

Remote access to the network is mandatory for Terra employees, as it allows for more effective communication and productivity. Employees require frequent access to corporate applications and resources directly from their mobile devices -- whether personal or corporate owned. Juniper's Junos Pulse network client, in concert with the existing deployment of Juniper Networks SA Series SSL VPN appliance, allows Terra's employees to securely access networked corporate applications and information from anywhere and at anytime. In addition, Terra is also deploying Junos Pulse for use with the Apple iPhone, iPod touch devices, and iPad. See related announcement.

As a result of the popularity of iPads and smartphones, Terra faced an increased demand to provide employees remote access to their corporate resources from these devices. The company began using Junos Pulse on employee smartphones in September 2010 with the goal to standardize the solution among all employees who access corporate applications and resources remotely through the company's already-deployed Juniper Networks SA Series SSL VPN Appliances.

"Junos Pulse App for smartphones, tablets and mobile devices is exactly what we were looking for. It allows remote users, regardless of device or access type, to get secure access to our internal network via our existing, deployed, and well used Juniper Networks SA Series SSL VPN," said Ruy Neto, technology managing director for Terra, "Junos Pulse has enabled us to extend employees' remote access to a broad array of devices, including iPads. With Junos Pulse, these devices are now as useful and productive as a regular desktop sitting in one of our offices, without compromising our network security policies."

"By deploying Junos Pulse, Terra extends network access to a variety of users including mobile and remote employees, helps increase their productivity, all the while strengthening uniform corporate-wide security policies and maintaining their existing internal server infrastructure," said Sanjay Beri, vice president and general manager, Access and Acceleration Business Unit, Service Layer Technologies Business Group at Juniper Networks. "Junos Pulse requires no changes to internal servers and minimal ongoing maintenance while delivering cross-platform and, device support, all of which represent significant savings over more traditional remote access solutions."
